Our nursing home is a purpose built facility, focused on personal attention and care to every resident. Our single story building is complete with landscaped gardens, offering a place to relax during the warmer months. Our building is surrounded by a level walkway, to allow for strolls on safe sturdy ground. There are also many seated areas for residents to relax in peace or with family and friends. We also have 4 large living rooms, a spacious airy conservatory, a smoking room, a large bright dining room and alcoves around the building with seating.

Our mission statement

There are 50 beds in the home, and 58 single rooms, 50 of which are en-suite. There are 12 single rooms without en-suite. There is also an overnight facility for visitors if needed.

We encourage guests to bring in personal items to make them feel more at home.

We are also situated just two miles from Douglas village. Douglas has a host of amenities for those traveling through.

We encourage our residents to be involved in activities and have them at the centre of the care planning process.

Douglas Nursing Home encourages you and your family to come down and visit the home. We believe that this will then give you the best idea whether this is the right place for you.



Douglas Nursing Home operates an open door policy, i.e.; the doors are not locked or alarmed during the day. This enables residents and visitors to have freedom of movement

around the home and grounds. If you wish to leave the nursing home grounds we ask that you inform the staff first. Likewise when you return please inform the staff.


Admissions to Douglas Nursing and Retirement Home are arranged by appointment following a pre admission assessment of your needs. This is to ensure we have the capabilities, expertise and equipment to cater to your needs.

We cannot accept people who have a tendency or potential to wander as we operate an open door policy and cannot guarantee the safety of this group of people.

We accept that at times emergency admissions may be necessary to protect the safety and wellbeing of a resident. In this instance the following procedures apply:

A full disclosure of the resident’s condition is expected from the resident’s representative /relative so an initial assessment can be made.

If the resident’s needs cannot be met by us the representative / relative will make alternative arrangements as a matter of urgency, if while with us it is deemed necessary to have one to one care, the cost will be borne by the resident.
